Palamau Tiger Reserve sees surge in animal population in absence of tourists

Due to the pandemic, almost all wildlife sanctuaries were closed across India. The Palamau Tiger Reserve of Jharkhand completely stopped the movement of tourists in March 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic.

While talking to the media, a wildlife official said, “We have found evidence indicating tiger presence in nearby areas. 300 camera traps are there to locate animal movement.”

Palamau Tiger Reserve and Betla National Park have seen rising population of animals. According to the ranger of Betla National Park, “we are witnessing a rising number of animals in the forest. Be it deer, elephant, leopard or other animals, they are constantly visible here.” With the absence of human beings, the flora and fauna of the reserve has flourished, he observed.
