Karnataka Tourism Society praised proactive decisions of the State Govt. and further requested for Rehabilitation Package


Thanking the State Government for taking   pro-active decisions in extending many benefits to travel, tourism and hospitality sector, Karnataka Tourism Society (KTS) which is the representative's body for all travel and hospitality sector in Karnataka, further requested the Karnataka Government for Rehabilitation Package for the stakeholders in Travel, Tourism and hospitality sector in Karnataka.

Members of the KarnatakaTourism Society gave a memorandum to CM BS Yediyurappa for a rehabilitationpackage for the stakeholders in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry asthey have been severely affected by the second wave.

“Even as we were trying to recover from theeffect of the first wave, the second one has hit us harder. Hence, we arerequesting the State Government for a relief package. There has been negativegrowth of 73 per cent from April-December 2020,” said Society secretary S. Mahalingaiah.

The members have demanded deferment ofproperty taxes for the year 2021-22 and extension of time till October 31 topay 50 per cent of the property tax, instead of May 31 as the last date withrebate. They have requested for time till March 31, 2022 to pay the remainderand similarly to extend the time to renew the excise licence fee till June 2021and December 31, 2021.

They demanded that the government waiveelectricity bills from April to September 2021 and energy charges be levied onactual consumption only. Since a most staffers have low income, they demandedfor onetime direct monetary support and their details to be collected from ESI.
