Jammu and Kashmir LG inaugurated the ropeway of Peer Kho to Mahamaya section


Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the 1.18km Peerkho-Mahamaya section of the Jammu ropeway project. On the occasion L.G. Mr. Sinha said, “The Jammu ropeway will be a major tourist attraction in the region. It will also add to the aesthetics of Jammu city,” the section will complete the religious tourism circuit comprising Peerkho, Mahamaya, and Bahu Temples, he added.

LG directed the officials to take care of the ecology while maintaining the highest safety standards for the ropeway.

Kolkata-based Damodar Ropeways & Infra Limited (DRIL) executed the project. The ropeway from Peer Kho to Mahamaya Temple is 1.184 km long, and goes over the Tawi River giving the passengers a picturesque view of the river and temples situated around both the ends of the river bank. The ropeway capacity is 400 people per hour and moves at a speed of 0-4m/s. The ropeway situated at 86.13 metres of height will have 14 cabins operating on a monocable detachable system.
